I believe I am well qualified because I have strong organizational and study skills and have 3 younger siblings, all of which I have helped with school work. I was very into science, specifically biology and marine biology, in high school and some of my coursework reflects that interest but have since decided to focus on government and English as I believe writing is my greatest strength. I received 4's or 5's on History, Biology, English and American Government AP tests and scored a 1430 on the SATs. Last semester I was lucky enough to study abroad in Florence, Italy which was an incredible experience and where I learned a lot about the Italian language and culture. The past two summers I have held positions at both at Vertrue, inc.(an internet marketing company based in Norwalk, CT) as a corporate development intern and at American Media, inc. as an editorial intern and am currently considering pursuing teaching, most likely at the high school level.

Hobbies:

I have three younger siblings - a sister and two brothers - and so am used to being around and working with kids. I play club lacrosse at Georgetown and also love soccer, tennis, skiing and all water sports. I'm a hard worker but also love to have fun!

Hourly Rate:
$30.00/hr

Available Days/Times:
Any day at any time

Lives Near:
20007 zip code

Click here to contact this tutor

Taught English in a rural community in Brazil. SAT scores were 780 for reading, 760 for writing, and 680 for math. Graduated from high school in french, have taken the french baccalaureate. Other impressive items include height 5"1', speaking, writing, and reading five languages fluently, have lived in six different countries, and English is a third language, so experienced with EFL program. Majoring in Science, Technology in International Affairs at Geogetown School of Foreign Service.

Hobbies:

Plays the flute since grade six.
The reason I would like to be a tutor is to help students from various backgrounds to become better in whatever subject they want to improve upon.

Hobbies:

When I'm not studying, I like to hang out with my friends and play tennis.

Hourly Rate:
$25.00/hr

Available Days/Times:
Weekdays in the evening

Lives Near:
22180 zip code

Click here to contact this tutor

Washington Tutor Profile: Political Science major at Georgetown University

Tutor Profile
Junior at Georgetown University
Majoring in Political Science

Gender:
Female

Preferred Subjects
English (Writing), Spanish, History, Philosophy, and Psychology

Experience:

I'm a junior at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service majoring in International Politics. The Humanities are my passion and I have had previous tutoring experience in this field. I tutored two sisters ages 8 and 11 in Spanish the summer before my freshman year of High School. I spent my entire junior year of high school studying abroad in Zaragoza, Spain. All of my courses were taught in Spanish by native speakers. I also spent the fall semester of my junior year of college studying abroad in Santiago, Chile and teaching typing and writing skills in Spanish to a group of middle aged women who had never used a computer before. This required lots of patience and consideration and a strong command of the Spanish language. My grades in English, Spanish, History, Philosophy, and Psychology in both high school and college have consistently been in the A range. I feel that the grades I have received from the top preparatory high school in the US, Phillips Exeter Academy, as well as a top US university, Georgetown, are a more accurate reflection of my proficiency in these subjects than my test scores which were a 3 on the AP English Exam, a 5 on the AP Spanish Exam, 790 out of 800 on the Spanish SAT II, and 690 on the SAT writing section.

Hobbies:

I live by the motto, "work hard, play hard." So while I am very motivated, studious, and hardworking, I make sure to have fun during my leisure time. I enjoy white water rafting, horseback riding, reading non-fiction/sci-fi novels, rollerblading, and para

Hourly Rate:
$25.00/hr

Available Days/Times:
Friday at any time
Weekends at any time
Thursday after 12 Noon
Monday after 6PM
Tuesday after 6PM
Wednesday after 6PM

Lives Near:
20057 zip code

Click here to contact this tutor

Washington Tutor Profile: Linguistics and Pre-med major at Georgetown University

Tutor Profile
Senior at Georgetown University with a 3.74 GPA
Majoring in Linguistics, and Pre-med

Gender:
Male

Preferred Subjects
Japanese, Spanish, Chemistry, Algebra, Geometry, General Math, English (Writing), and Biology

Experience:

I used to volunteer tutor in high school (Spanish, Algebra and Geometry) and found the experience of helping others grasp a better understanding of something they previously had trouble with very rewarding. I also plan on being abroad teaching English in Japan for a year after graduation, so not only would this experience be beneficial to the tutee, but to me as well.

Washington Tutor Profile: Economics and French major at Georgetown University

Tutor Profile
Senior at Georgetown University
Majoring in Economics, and French

Gender:
Female

Preferred Subjects
English (ESL), English (Writing), French, Geometry, and Algebra

Experience:

I tutored algebra and geometry in high school for two years, and did one semester of tutoring for DC public schools in reading comprehension. I am an economics major, so I have strengths in math. I am also a French minor, so I have strengths in languages and writing.

I scored a 32 on the ACT.

I truly enjoy teaching and find it far more rewarding than any other job I have had. I take the time to go through the basics, because these are the foundations upon which you build your understanding. A firm graps of these concepts will be crucial to improvement, so I make sure to focus on them first.

Hobbies:

I enjoy bike riding and playing tennis, and am a big sports fan (my favorite ones to watch are basketball and tennis). I am active but take great pride in my studies as well.

Hourly Rate:
$25.00/hr

Available Days/Times:
Monday in the afternoon
Tues/Thurs in the afternoon
Wednesday at any time
Any day at any time

Lives Near:
20007 zip code

Click here to contact this tutor
