High School Valedictorian
I just finished my first year teaching Algebra and Geometry at Irving High School where I was placed through The New Teacher Program (an off-shoot of Teach for America). I focused on working with students that were failing math courses and were several grade-levels behind in their knowledge.
Prior to this experience, I independently taught an ACT Test Prep Course to a small class of high school juniors. After 20 hours of tutoring, these students improved their scores by an average of 5 points composite (roughly equivalent to 200 points on the SAT).
I enjoy working with students of all levels, but especially those that are struggling to make sense of a bunch of equations and formulas. I've often found that once students understand why they are doing something, the calculations come very naturally.
