Private tutor in Washington, DC

Education

Graduated McGill University (Montreal), May 2012. I have B.A. in Economics (minors in history & math) and graduated with a 3.6 GPA.

Experience

I've taught college and high school students of all levels as a tutor in college. It is a rewarding experience when successful and it's always fun to teach people new things. Tutoring also helps keep me sharp on subjects I really enjoy and the questions I get asked always lead to learning new things. I scored in the 99th percentile on the SAT (2260), LSAT (171) and GMAT (730) with perfect scores in SAT & GMAT math sections. I've helped two friends improve their LSAT scores by 14 (156-170) and 9 (160-167) respectively. I can teach any level of math short of what a College Junior math major would take (advanced differential equations, e.g.) Otherwise, I've never had less than a 4.0 in any math class and I'm sure I can help you with any problem you encounter. Fluent in English, French and Spanish and scored 800 on both French and Spanish SAT II. I worked for two years as Financial Analyst at TD Bank and have familiarity with financial instruments and institutions and expertise in practical and theoretical economics. I can teach any area or period of history at any secondary or post secondary level. History is a passion of mine and I can confidently help teach any material in classes you take in HS or college or expand on the lessons to help essay writing. I've written dozens of history/economics/poli-sci essays and papers and can help by recommending sources, improving flow and syntax as well as proof-reading. Familiar with the history and legal implications of US Constitution and all Amendments as well as relevant Supreme Court case history.

Hobbies

Having a younger sister, I've grown up helping others with homework and exam preparation. I love the give and take of one-on-one discussions of subjects; it practically guarantees that both of us completely understand the subject and haven't just memorized the important info, an depth that always shows up in essays and exams. I used to play football and basketball in HS and college, and have coached both sports. Now I run and go to the gym to stay healthy. I love to talk sports or movies or philosophy (though I'm no expert). I like to think that nothing you learn is useless. You're always surprised by what useless piece of information fits perfectly in an essay, and teachers always appreciate outside-the-box analogies.
