Education

Senior at Georgetown University GPA: 3.964 Major: Linguistics, Pre-Med Minors: Business Administration, Mandarin Chinese

Experience

I have always enjoyed teaching - I worked as a private tutor for middle school students and high school underclassmen before I came to Georgetown, and I have continued to teach as a multilingual tutor for the DC Schools Project as an undergraduate. I tutored in a range of subjects, including basic algebra, English, Spanish, social studies, biology, chemistry, and SAT prep. In my five years of tutoring, I have experienced many different learning styles, and it has allowed me to better meet the needs of my students. In addition to my tutoring experience, I have a very strong academic record. I was my high school's salutatorian and graduated with a 4.00 GPA. At Georgetown, my GPA is 3.964, which places me in the top 1% of my class. I am also a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, a Coca-Cola Scholar, a National Merit Scholar, and a U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholar. My SAT composite score is 2340 (CR: 740, Math: 800, Writing 800).

Hobbies

I have a passion for studying Chinese. I began with no knowledge of the language as a freshman at Georgetown, and over the past four years I have developed advanced proficiency. I spent 2 months studying Chinese language and culture in Beijing in 2011 on a foreign study grant from the U.S. State Department. I am currently applying for a Fulbright Scholarship to research education in rural Western China. Another one of my passion is medical science. This past summer I completed my Pre-Med requirements by taking the Harvard University Intensive Organic Chemistry program (GPA 4.00). I will be working at a leading healthcare consulting firm in New York in the fall, and I plan to apply to medical schools in 2015. I also enjoy scuba diving, playing squash, and swimming. My favorite dog breed is the corgi, and my favorite dessert is Japanese mochi.
