Private tutor in Washington, DC

Education

The George Washington University Law School - Class of 2017 Bachelor of Arts - Religious Studies at The George Washington University - August 2013 GPA: 3.79

Experience

Tutored a number of students in Writing, Spanish, and Earth Science. Excellent skills in Mathematics, Analytical Writing, English. SAT: 2080 ACT: 32 AP Physics B: 5 AP Calculus BC: 5 AP US Government: 4 AP Comparative Government: 5 AP Biology: 5 I want to be a tutor because I know that it is difficult to make the theoretical material that is learned in the classroom personable and applicable. I believe that I have the ability to connect to my students in such a way which would allow them to not only learn the material, but to also enjoy it as well. Recently I was awarded the Harry Yeide Prize of Excellence in the Study of Religion, which is the annual departmental award given to a student of the faculty's choosing. While I'm probably not going to be tutoring anyone in religion anytime soon, my coursework exposed me to a lot of dense primary source material, which gave me the opportunity to take high, lofty concepts and make them communicable to the average person. I believe that this skill is easily translatable to tutoring, especially in teaching a student how to write. While there are conventions that students have to follow, before they are to recognize these norms they need to be able to properly analyze what they have in front of them and to do so with a command of voice. Such command takes a time to develop, however, which is why it is extremely crucial for there to be someone to help facilitate this process in the short-term.

Hobbies

I love everything about baseball (I am a diehard Mets fan!) and I could go on with you for hours about players, trends, history of the sport, etc. I also love to read, especially books on philosophy and history (when you are a religion major you have to read a TON of books!). I'm usually in my library whenever I am not out and about.
