| Experience: | Hello! My name is Remy, and I am currently a freshman at Georgetown University. I am enrolled as a pre-med student and am taking chemistry, calculus, and intensive advanced Spanish. I attended Regis High School in New York City, "a college preparatory education to young men from the New York metropolitan area who demonstrate superior intellectual and leadership potential" (quoted from the website) and have had a lot of experience tutoring throughout high school. I am interested in tutoring elementary, middle school, and high school students throughout the Georgetown/DC area!
In high school, I was the president of the Math Peer Achievement Center and the AprendaCenter (the Spanish Tutoring Center). The Math Tutoring Center focused on tutoring in Algebra II and Geometry. However, I have taken Algebra, Geometry, Precalculus, Calulus AB, and Calculus BC. The AprendaCenter tutored in Spanish grammar and assisted students in understanding short stories and various forms of literature, and writing compositions. I have taken 5 years of Spanish and reached the highest level of Spanish in my high school. I am enrolled in intensive advanced Spanish at Georgetown, which is the highest level before the major classes. In addition, I have taken biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, American history, European history, Psychology, English literature and poetry, and American literature and poetry throughout high school.
I received a 1480 on my SAT, and a 720 on the Math II SAT subject test, a 720 on the Spanish SAT subject test, and a 710 on the Literature SAT subject test. I feel competent enough to tutor for the SAT or any SAT subject test.
As well, for the past four summer I have volunteered at Camp ANCHOR, a camp for kids and adults with various mental and physical handicaps, from ADD/ADHD to Autism and Down syndrome. I have had a lot of experience working and communicating with all types of people and am definitely interested in tutoring elementary school, middle school, or high school students with learning disabilities or ADD/ADHD.
My GPA is unknown because the first semester has not ended. My high school GPA was 3.8.
I am interested in tutoring because as a graduate of Jesuit high school and current student at a Jesuit university, I am interested in using my strengths and abilities to help those in need. As well, I have had a lot of experience tutoring and interacting with children, and love it. |
| Hobbies: | Extracurricularly, I like to ski, go to the movies, watch plays, volunteer, travel, and hang out with friends. I am a trained ski instructor and taught skiing at Mount Snow in Vermont. |
