Experience

I am now tutoring a law student at American University. I taught American History for 30 years in a Wisconsin high school. Recently, I took a Legal History class for graduate credit, and the professor wanted to take me to lunch to ask me what I had been reading. Among my former students is a former Solicitor General of the U.S., who is presently one of the most asked-for lawyers to argue cases in front of the Supreme Court. He called me, in print, one of the two most influential teachers he had had in high school--even though our political thinking is quite different from the other!

Hobbies

Most importantly, I'm a teacher and always have been. Mere knowledge is never enough; one must be enthusiastic, understanding, analytical and compassionate to help someone learn in ways he or she could not have imagined until that moment. As any classroom teacher will tell you, the best moments in their careers have often taken place in a one-on-one session, where that moment of 'a-ha' takes place and smiles break out all over. It's great to do that for someone!
