I am now tutoring a law student at American University. I taught American History for 30 years in a Wisconsin high school. Recently, I took a Legal History class for graduate credit, and the professor wanted to take me to lunch to ask me what I had been reading. Among my former students is a former Solicitor General of the U.S., who is presently one of the most asked-for lawyers to argue cases in front of the Supreme Court. He called me, in print, one of the two most influential teachers he had had in high school--even though our political thinking is quite different from the other!

As any classroom teacher will tell you, the best moments in their careers have often taken place in a one-on-one session, where that moment of 'a-ha' takes place and smiles break out all over.
