Experience
I attended the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill (UNC) and had the chance to work with Habitat for Humanity. During this time, I helped build homes and tutored children who were living in the areas we were working in. I worked with the same kids for a few years, so was able to watch them develop as people and academically, which was incredible rewarding. I was also a teaching assistant while pursuing my undergraduate studies, working at Organic and Analytical Chemistry labs. I would help students to understand what was taught during lectures and to conduct experiments.Upon graduation from UNC, I took a job at an ultrasound research lab. I helped develop new ways to use ultrasound to image blood flow. Later I earned a master's degree in Biomedical Engineering. This work involved a lot of math and physics, which is needed to write the software to display images and process the ultrasound signals. Taking images also requires chemistry and biology knowledge. I can help in these subjects plus calculus, geometry, trigonometry, biology, physics, and test prep.Living in Washington D.C., I like gardening and participating in triathlons when I am not tutoring or being a scientist.
