Having many wonderful teachers over the years has inspired me to take some of their teachings and apply it to my own style of teaching too. I always try to have a positive attitude, and if you put that energy off, students will gravitate more and be more apt to ask questions and feel comfortable approaching a teacher. I think that learning should be fun and I love it when it is contagious to other students! Having a great attitude and infecting the students with that will also make solving course material much better, and perhaps easier as well. I normally start out with the basics because every student needs to start from the beginning in order to understand the tougher concepts later on. I also like to sit down with every student individually before they start any material, basically to get a feel for what classes they like and others they do not like. Having a great attitude is not always the case because there will obviously be frustration, and the student may become distracted from the work. My approach is to be patient with them and guide them in the right direction, then afterwards the student will feel satisfaction in figuring their way through a problem.
