Experience

I have spent the past 6 years as a special education teacher in the DCPS and Public Charter school systems. My experience ranges from grades 4-8 in both ELA and math. I love helping students reach their own "aha!" moment. My goals with every student are: 1. Create a trusting relationship where they feel safe to make "good-for-learning" mistakes 2. Build their confidence so they believe they can master any content with enough hard work 3. Take them step-by-step, at their pace, until they have a solid understanding of the material 4. Convince them that learning is fun!

Hobbies

In my spare time, I love to read, run, and play with my puppy. My favorite books are Pride and Prejudice, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, and Anne of Green Gables. I run the Disney princess half marathon every year with my sister (this year I will be Anna from Frozen). I have also run the Marine Corps Marathon for 2 years in a row. Excited for year 3 next Fall! My puppy's name is Papaya, and we love to cuddle.
