Experience
As I biology tutor, one of my goals is to teach not only the science but also how it directly relates to students' lives. I also want to help people understand how biology is connected to the world at large - to economics, to culture, to history, and to politics.I am a graduate of Florida State University, where I obtained a PhD in biological sciences. I also performed several years of postdoctoral study at the National Institutes of Health. One of the major responsibilities of biologists is to help people make informed decisions about the way their lives have an impact on the environment, and I hope to do my part through tutoring. I also strive to promote appreciation and awareness of biological diversity and to teach students critical-evaluation skills regarding information they obtain about biology. My approach to instruction is for the student to be actively engaged in the learning process and not a passive learner.Other subjects that I can tutor include genetics and chemistry. I also can help students prepare for GMAT and graduate exams.I live in Washington, D.C., where I spend some of my free time playing soccer (I am an avid fan of the sport). I also like to ski and windsurf.
