Experience
I am Joseph, and I am currently working in planning and development of educational policies. I live in the Washington D.C., area, and I am a graduate of the University of Southern California and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. I have experience as an elementary, middle school, and high school mathematics instructor; an instructor and coach for other mathematics teachers; and in curriculum planning. I strive to show my students that learning does not have to be unpleasant; that we should enjoy learning throughout our lives. I still learn right alongside every student I teach! I am able to tutor students in general mathematics, pre-algebra, algebra 1, social studies, college essays, essay editing, and grammar and mechanics. I am also able to assist with homework and study skills, and provide test prep for AP US government and politics. In my free time, I enjoy attending massive open online courses from various colleges (I have earned more than 19 verified certificates in these courses); running; playing guitar; and playing chess and other strategic board games.
