Private tutor in Washington, DC

Education

Graduated from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois (yes, I was a Normal student!) with a BS in Sociology and from the University of Illinois with an MA in Social Justice Professions. Have also had numerous post-grad courses in several subjects, such as project management, finance, law enforcement and so on. Recently, at age 66, I started taking courses in history at the University of Delaware.

Experience

Several years of tutoring in ESL with grade and high school students. Also taught English in Japan for a year and taught at the community college level. I have lots of life experience (another way to say that is: I'm old) and want to pass along what I've learned to a younger generation. I like to see the light bulb light.......and the grin cross the face when my students 'get it.'

Availability

Monday in the evening, Tuesday in the evening, Wednesday in the evening

Can Meet

Up to 1 hour away for no additional charge

Hobbies

Avid reader of mostly non-fiction, particularly history. Active in Habitat for Humanity work. Former police officer, college administrator, radio announcer, fire fighter and currently a telecommunications administrator. I call it my 'checkered past.' Work in the NOVA area.
