Education

I hold a MA in International Security from the University of Denver, where I graduated with a 3.8 GPA. I also have a BA in Political Science and Global Studies from the University of Saint Mary, where I graduated with honors and a 3.8 GPA. Currently, I am an honors student attending the University of Maryland to earn my commission through Army ROTC, while finishing my BA in History. Ultimately, I hope to enter a Ph.D program in History or Political Science.

Experience

With the Army National Guard, I have served as an instructor and leader for younger soldiers. In 2010, I taught a series of evening lectures for 200 soldiers, covering topics related to military history, international relations, and leadership. I have also served as a team, squad, and platoon leader in training environments. While at the University of Denver, I taught a week of classes on intelligence analysis and methods to improve critical and creative thinking skills. At the University of Saint Mary, I led a student presentation that highlighted the key issues of debate in the 2004 Presidential Election. I have published my writings with multiple organizations. While serving as an intern at the U.S. Department of State, my writings on peacekeeping appeared in a major publication within the Department. As a junior project manager with General Dynamics, my research and writing has appeared in multiple government reports. At the University of Saint Mary, my research on U.S. counterinsurgency strategy during the Filipino Insurrection of the early 1900s was presented at the 2005 Phi Alpha Theta Conference. In my free time, I author blog posts on the Chicago Bears. My reports have been featured the Bleacher Report, Yahoo News, and CBS Sports. I am a strong proponent of structured analytical techniques to improve critical and creative thinking. At the University of Denver, I studied under leading instructors for structured analytical techniques. I use this training to improve my overall thinking and decision-making in school, work, and with the military.
