George Washington University - Bachelors, English , George Washington University - PHD, English

I earned my bachelor's degree in English from George Washington University, and stayed with the same subject and school until I had earned my PhD. I used my education to teach students of all ages, from elementary school through college. And as an instructor at a local community college, I worked with students from new high school graduates through retired professionals, and who came from all over the world. The main thing I learned from that experience is how important it is to have a wide variety of teaching methods and techniques at my disposal, because students do not all learn in the same way. It's important that I, as a tutor, am flexible and ready to work with each student based on their particular needs, using their specific strengths and abilities. I am very dedicated to my students. I provide them with the tools they need to learn, whatever they may be, and the student works hard to improve their knowledge. If the first tool they need is motivation, I have ways to turn them from reluctant tutoring students into engaged, excited learners. We then work as a team to achieve their academic goals.
