Private tutor in Washington, DC
George Washington University - Bachelor in Arts, International Affairs , Yale University - Master of Arts, Forestry/Environmental Science
I started teaching in Rwanda, providing leadership training to high schools and teaching English. I've since had the opportunity to teach some of subjects at all levels of ability, ranging from ecology at the graduate level to geography at the high school level. I went to Yale to study conservation science and ecology prior to that I attended George Washington University to earn a BA in international affairs. This interdisciplinary academic background allows me to tutor a wide range of subjects, including algebra, business, biology, chemistry, writing, English, ESL, grammar, history, literature, economics, test preparation, public speaking, and others. Teaching is the best and most satisfying job I have had. I like to get to know students upfront and build rapport them. This allows me to understand what their goals are, what interest them, and how to keep them motivated. There's is no experience like the moment a concept clicks for student. I use a number of different teaching modalities to figure out what works best for my student, and I focus on that. When I have free time, I like to cook, travel, hike, and read.
