Experience
I tutored a freshman and then sophmore weekly in English, History,Algebra, and German for two years. I also taught second graders German weekly for a year. For two years, I led underclassmen in trumpet sectionals (lessons. This semester I began mentoring a at-risk youth at Malcom X Elementary School. I scored fives on U.S. History, Literature, Psychology, and European History. I scored fours on Language and Composition and U.S. Government and Politics. On the SAT, I scored a 730 on Writing, 750 on Reading, and 530 on Math. I am passionate about education. My brother is disabled and I always helped him with school work. I believe everyone deserves attention; this is an issue today, especially in urban schools lacking funds and resources. Tutoring is an opportunity to help those who others could not. I have not taken any education classes at this time. However, I believe practical experience with tutoring are invaluable. I work at the School of Education, Teaching, and Health at American University. In addition, I intern at a nonproft 2gether International. I am Operations Officer at 2gether; I lead weekly discussions on issues facing the disability community. Also, during 3-day workshops, I educate high schoolers on the social constraints of disabilities through simulations.
