Olga M.
Private tutor in Washington, DC
Education
In 2011 I graduated from Brandeis University cum laude with a Bachelors of Science dual degree in Biology and Health: Science, Society & Policy.
Experience
After college I earned my teaching certification through Teach For America. I have been teaching High School Biology (primarily 9th-11th graders) and Environmental Science (11th-12th grade) for the past two years. I am responsible for preparing about 150 high school students for the Maryland HSA Exam in Biology. My students have a 92% passing rate, while the average for our school is about 60%. I have gained extensive experience planning and implementing science curriculum. I spend about 2.5-5 hours a week doing small group tutoring after school. I know that if presented with the opportunity, students find science accessible and exciting and are eager to excel. In college, I worked with a special education, third grader weekly to improve his math and reading skills.

Hobbies
I am 24 years old and love spending time outdoors--biking, running, and staying active. I love traveling and working with children and young adults. Younger children tend to be drawn to my calm but exciting energy. I also love mentoring young adults and find that I, or academic. In anonymous teacher evaluations one student writes, "Ms. Mezhebovsky is not only a great teacher, she is a good friend who is always there for me when I need her." Last year I was nominated as an Educator of Distinction in the National Society of High School Scholars. I am excited to support, motivate, and advance your child!
