Education

Yale University 3.83 Class of 2014 Religious Studies/Pre-med

Experience

-4 years of experience tutoring Spanish and test-prep (SAT and GED) -SAT score: 2240 (Math: 730 Reading: 740 Writing: 770) -AP scores: All 5s in Biology, US History, Comparative Government, English Literature, Spanish Literature, Spanish Language, and Calculus AB A graduate of Yale University, I majored in Religious Studies while also pursing the pre-med track. I have four years of tutoring a wide-range of subjects. I've tutored students who are preparing to take standardized tests (particularly the GED exam) in math, reading and writing, and specific subjects. I also worked for the Yale Spanish Department for four years as a grader and tutor for students in all levels of learning. I also served as a tutor for a summer in Amman, Jordan, teaching English to refugees from the Middle East and North Africa region. My favorite subjects to tutor are math and Spanish because both have many real life applications, which makes their teaching particularly interesting and useful for students. My tutoring approach empowers students to take control of their own learning. I constantly expose students to practical exercises, encouraging them to take risks and to not be afraid of making mistakes. As someone who has a strong background in both the natural sciences and the humanities, I love exposing students to different ways of thinking so that they can develop a unique learning method based on their own interests and experiences. Regardless of whether I'm helping students prepare for a standardized test or debating deep philosophical questions, I encourage them to feel passionate about learning and to consider how they can apply it to real life
