Experience

I recently moved to Washington, DC and I'm looking forward to continuing my passion in helping students to understand and love their math and statistics classes. I have 14 years of tutoring experience helping many students achieve success in the classroom. I was a tutor at Rutgers University for 6 years during my tenure as an Undergraduate & Graduate student tutoring Math, Economics, and Statistics classes for the Student Support Services department. I was a peer mentor / TA for the Calculus I & Calculus II recitation classes for 4 years. I continued to assist students with diverse backgrounds and learning needs through private 1-1 tutoring after graduation from 2012 thru May 2020 in the NJ / NY area. My students ranged from middle school through college/graduate level. I tutored all levels of Mathematics and Statistics classes. The qualities that I possess as a tutor are that I'm very passionate about the subject matter to help students be engaged in the subject, very knowledgeable in the subject matter which will enable me to fill in the gaps in knowledge that the student may have, and I'm very patient as I understand the struggles that the student is experiencing in trying to learn the new concepts. I have collected many electronic textbooks over the years in math and statistics from previous students, which current students find very valuable for extra practice and preparation of quizzes and midterms. Currently, most of the students that I am tutoring are via zoom, where I have a digital whiteboard that I use to explain concepts and solutions to problems. For those students that need help with SPSS or SAS, I also have those on my laptop and will be able to screenshare to help with your assignments and analysis. Students that need help using their T83/T84 calculators, I will be able to screenshare my screen and display the calculator on my screen to walk thru the problems and analysis.

Hobbies

Tutoring is one of my hobbies :) My other hobby is in Data Science - Learning about new techniques for data modeling in python and pyspark. I like to explore smartphone apps that will enable me to be more productive. For example, I'm a true nerd that I have a T83/TI84 app that behaves exactly like the real calculator on both my phone and computer. I often find myself using this calculator at work.
