In my 14 years of working as a tutor and as a teacher, I have learned a lot. I know there is not a single way, or even just two ways, that a student learns. I know that what works for one student, or even many students, does not work for every student. And, I have discovered that long-term success is only achieved when a student is fully engaged past the pages of the book. I always tailor my lessons to the individual student. The fit is custom, not one-size-fits-all, and there is not a cookie cutter approach. Whenever I can, and when it makes sense, I weave in topics like the media, culture, art, and music into my lessons. Hebrew, Spanish, and Arabic are the languages I have taught. I have also tutored in career skills/resume writing. I have benefited from teaching students across many backgrounds, which includes those with special needs. Parents are always my partners in the tutoring process, as they are especially helpful in identifying where the student needs help.After I have tutored students, they will be able to do more than recite the material. They will have developed a sincere appreciation for the content and will be able to find ways to make it relevant to their lives.
