Experience

Tutoring is a powerful tool, and I take it seriously. A good tutor must love teaching and love the topics they teach. They also must be patient and dedicated to the success of each student they work with. A tutor helps students feel comfortable in the learning environment, and is sympathetic to the needs of each student. Tutors also need to connect with their students and establish trust. I like to set goals for each session, and I set up checkpoints within the session so we can check progress. I also like to explain concepts in different ways and use different perspectives to help students solidify their understanding. At the end of the session, I review what we went over with the student, and I provide review materials. When it comes to practice problems, I like to review the way the student approaches it, and I provide guidance to help them arrive at the answer. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music, reading, and being active.
