Private tutor in Washington, DC
Boston University - BS, Mechanical Engineering , University of Sussex - MA, Poverty and International Development , Purdue University - PhD, Engineering Education
I earned my bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in History at Boston University and went on to earn my master's in Poverty & Development at the University of Sussex in England. Right now, I'm completing my dissertation in the field of Engineering Education at Purdue University. I have tons of experience tutoring the subjects of Engineering, History, Physics, and Math and know, through my own schooling experiences, the difficulties students face when working with complex equations or writing long papers. My goal as a tutor is to increase each student's comfort level and confidence in the material at hand. I'm comfortable teaching students who are just learning the basics, as well as those who just need a small bit of missing information filled in to reach a level of mastery. One of my main strategies is to ask questions so that I can be sure the person I'm teaching is following along the process each step of the way. In addition to the previously mentioned subjects, I am comfortable tutoring Social Studies, Computer Science, and Geography, as well as helping students prepare for tests like the AP exams. In my free time, I love taking road trips, walking, reading, and learning about history.
