Private tutor in Washington, DC
The George Washington University - BA, English
In 2013, I took the LSAT in preparation for my plans to attend law school in a few years. Since taking the test, I have been able to help many aspiring lawyers boost their test scores. This teaching experience has made me realize that incentive is a factor that has an enormous effect on one's performance. This is why I always ask my students to look deeper and ask themselves what is motivating them to succeed. Once this becomes clear, my students have shown an increase in their level of enjoyment with relation to the subject matter. Further, I also try and convince my students that what they are learning can be enjoyable. More specifically, I teach my LSAT students to see the test as a compilation of fun puzzles. I also have tutoring experience with English as a second language students in Sri Lanka, my home country. In Sri Lanka, my classes ranged from middle to high school age. My bachelor's is from George Washington University. While there, I studied English and explored my passion for stories. My career has given me experience with many different styles of teaching, so I am very open to change when it comes to teaching methods. I enjoy teaching my students to analyze stories. In my free time, I am an avid musician, athlete, and cook.
