Private tutor in Washington, DC
University of Florida - BA, Anthropology , Georgetown University - MA, Conflict Resolution
I attended the University of Florida, and obtained my bachelor's degree in Anthropology, minoring in History. I am currently working towards my master's degree in Conflict Resolution. During college, I was a tutor and also a paramedic, lifeguard, martial arts teacher, and swim coach. I have done some extensive traveling throughout Central America, South America, and Africa and have provided some medical aid work in Nicaragua and Haiti. My style of teaching is to guide students in the right direction as opposed to just throwing all the information out there and risk the possibility of overwhelming a student. I took a Socratic method of teaching when taking some courses in college where my professor used this same method. Most of his class consisted of the students asking questions and talking out different theories together to solve material. I really like to use this method when preparing students who are going to be taking a test because they will read more into the questions and also have the confidence to ask themselves what the correct answer is and basically work the problems out. In my free time I love spending time outdoors, particularly at the beach or the woods. I like to run, read, and enjoy woodworking.
