Private tutor in Washington, DC
I have a bachelor's degree in psychology from American University.
I graduated with honors from my university and had a GPA of 3.89. My senior year I joined Phi Beta Kappa, an honor society for liberal arts and sciences. I have experience working with a wide age-range of children in both academic and non-academic settings. In addition to being knowledgeable in the subjects I offer as a tutor, I succeed because I am both kind and patient. I believe that the environment in which a student is learning is crucial to his/her success. The student must feel comfortable with the tutor, and feel empowered to do his/her own critical thinking. I aspire to be a writer, and have nearly finished my first book. I have spent a total of one year in Costa Rica, and this experience allowed me to refine my Spanish skills to the point where I am comfortable tutoring up to a college level.

I enjoy creative writing, and have written poetry and short stories. My latest project is a novel, which is now in the editing stage. In my free time I enjoy reading and playing a variety of sports, including baseball, basketball, and soccer. My favorite author is Kurt Vonnegut. I enjoy hiking, and have had the good fortune to be able to hike through beautiful parts of Costa Rica and New Zealand.
