Private tutor in Washington, DC
Harvard - BA, History
I attended Harvard and currently reside in Washington, D.C. I am available to tutor a variety of subjects, but I most enjoy tutoring students who would like to improve their writing skills. My personal experiences, and the fact that I still remember the challenges that writers face, make me an ideal writing teacher and tutor. I now have over five years' experience teaching others to write.Writing is a subject I've always enjoyed, but initially found quite difficult. Although my high school was very rigorous, the writing assignments were quite short; the longest assignments were only 5 pages in length. Upon entering college, I was expected to produce term papers twenty pages long! It was a struggle, but I managed, and eventually not only produced an award-winning thesis, but also led an undergraduate editing and writing group. In addition to English, I've been studying Latin for nearly ten years. Subjects I'm willing to tutor include reading and writing at the middle school and high school levels, American and British literature, grammar and mechanics, Shakespeare, Latin, social studies, and American and European history. I can also help students prepare for the math and verbal portions of the SAT and the SAT Latin subject test. When I am not working, I enjoy Latin, Latin American history, languages, and flying kites.
