Private tutor in Washington, DC
University of Maryland - B.S., Elementary Education , University of Maryland - M.Ed., Middle School Mathematics
I attended the University of Maryland where I earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, with a History emphasis. Upon graduating, I began working as a fifth grade teacher in local public schools. I work with students on all subjects, including Math, Reading, Writing, Literature, and Science. Though I work with fifth graders, I'm also able to work with students in first through sixth grade. I most enjoy teaching Math and History. I'm looking forward to attending the University of Maryland again, where I will work toward earning a master's degree in Middle School Math. Before teaching full-time in my own classroom, I worked extensively as a tutor with individuals of many ages and backgrounds. I also partnered with Teach for America in Las Vegas, where I worked with youth in schools with limited resources. My passion lies in education, and I've always been drawn to helping young people succeed in academics. It's this interest in student success that drives my work as an educator. I hope to build a love for learning in my students, and I do this by making sure lessons are interactive, inventive, and entertaining. Outside of educating, I love to cook, run, play the flute, and read. I also love to travel.
