Education

Hi! I'm a recent graduate from Washington University in St. Louis, where I majored in Mathematics with a concentration in Probability/Statistics, and minored in Political Science and Computer Science. I tutored all through college, and I'm now working in downtown DC, but I just can't give tutoring up!

Experience

I have been tutoring since high school, and it is something I love to do. Everyone learns differently, and I love explaining concepts to students in a way they might not have heard before to help them understand the material. Sometimes hearing an idea explained in a different way is all a student needs to go from utterly confused to completely clear. I've worked with middle school, high school, and college aged students from a variety of backgrounds. I've also tutored a range of subjects, from pre-algebra, geometry, statistics, and different levels of calculus, to SAT and ACT prep. Math has always been a strong subject for me, but I believe that anyone can master the topics in their math classes, it just takes looking at things in new ways, understanding the real-world application, and practice. I have a lot of fun both learning and teaching, and I like to make learning fun for my students, too! I graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a degree in Mathematics and completed the probability/statistics track within the major. Through studying more advanced proof techniques, for example, I feel even more capable of explaining how to construct a proof for high school geometry. After studying advanced statistics, I understand why certain concepts are taught in AP Statistics, and can teach them better than had I only taken the AP level class. Along with my math skills, I am also very capable of tutoring for the ACT, PSAT, and SAT. I took and succeeded on all three tests and am well versed in helping students prepare for standardized tests. College GPA: 3.8/4.0 ACT: 35 (Math: 36) SAT: 2290 (Math: 800) Please contact me if you need help in any math-related subject or test preparation. I'm happy to work with you to get you exactly what you need.

Hobbies

I currently work downtown and in my free time enjoy playing soccer, cooking, and exploring the city. I've also been trying to get back into reading more, since no one ever really reads enough, and the library is a short walk from my place, so I spend a lot of free time there! When I have the time, I also love to travel - my favorite place I've visited so far has been Ecuador!
