Private tutor in Washington, DC
Tufts University - BA, International Relations
Building on completion of my high school's IB program, I went on to study International Relations at Tufts University. During that time I was part of an education leadership effort, which offered the chance to analyze the world theories of various academic disciplines. I also had the opportunity to study Spanish at the University of Chile's law and political science schools, took part as an intern with an area NGO, and traveled throughout the area. I was so captivated by the experience that I made the decision to join the Peace Corps. During those years I taught English in Nicaragua to high school students. My background also includes presenting training workshops to more than 250 English teachers across the country, developing a career fair and providing culture and language programs. Key to this success is a flexible and patient approach to teaching and communicating. This past year I taught summer school to fourth graders, and am in the midst of studying for a master's in Bilingual Education. I have been a tutor at the high school and college levels, and enjoy tailoring lessons to meet students' specific needs and goals. I strive to help students break down difficult problems into manageable sections, and engage with them in finding solutions.
