Experience
When I graduated from Bucknell University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Mathematics, I reached a personal goal that was very important to me. Mathematics has been my passion ever since I was a small child. While a junior in high school, I passed AP Calculus and was admitted to Bucknell's undergraduate engineering program, which is one of the top Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited programs in the US.I have tutored and served as a mentor during much of my academic career. During my sophomore year at Bucknell, I helped grade school students at the Donald Heiter Community Center to improve their reading skills and to complete their homework. As an undergrad, I joined the National Society of Black Engineers, and I served as Vice President of the Bucknell University chapter. In this capacity, I mentored other engineering students and assisted them with the fundamental engineering classes that they were taking. I believe that my efforts to motivate them and to share a "we can do anything" attitude with them were very successful and made a difference in their lives. I bring these same positive motivational skills to the tutoring arena now. Tutoring is very rewarding for me because it's a way to utilize my experience in relating to people and allows me to achieve a deeper sense of community.
