My interest in university tutoring and my decision to apply for a post offered by the organization has come out of a recent and serious engagement with tutoring and mentoring over the course of my Master’s degree. Having studied directly under one of the finest educators and mentors at American University for two years now, I have been engaged with and made a student of the rigorous teaching methods associated with philosophical and technical writing and editing. My interests in tutoring and mentoring students lies in the prospect of developing and expanding a student’s critical capacity to write, to reason, and above all, to think. By specifically serving as a teaching assistant for three semesters, while tutoring privately college bound high school seniors and graduate bound college seniors, I have been exposed directly to the analytic and editorial demands associated with applying for a variety of graduate and undergraduate programs. In my time as a tutor, I have assisted a number of students with graduate school applications, either applying for an MBA program or a humanities program.

I have a great passion for literature, theatre, and economics. The intersection of the three is a large portion of my intellectual pursuits outside of the academy, especially in the genre of non-fiction.
