Private tutor in Washington, DC
Scripps College - , Social Change Through Art , Bennington College - , Premedical Sciences
Although I am preparing to enter med school, my journey to this point has not been a traditional one. But, it has prepared me to teach and tutor others in many ways to help them reach success in their academics. I earned a bachelor's degree in 2010 from Scripps College with an emphasis in studio art and politics. After graduation, I spent a year with the International Rescue Committee in South Sudan. It was during this time that I discovered my love for medicine. After I came home, I entered a pre-med program at Vermont's Bennington College. This 12-month program is intense. You cover chemistry, biology, and physics. Because of the program's academic demands, you must be a careful planner. I became excellent at time management to maximize homework and classwork completion. I did very well with the program, and sat for the MCAT in July. Math and science were not easy for me in high school. However, I have learned how to become a disciplined learner, which is why I know I can be a strong tutor. I taught English as a Second Language instructor in Thailand, and I co-taught in Cameroon, where I taught Environmental Education in French. I have tutored Math and Spanish for middle school students as well. If you have questions about my qualifications and experience, please let me know.
