Syracuse University - Bachelors, Political Science

I earned my bachelor's degree from Syracuse University. As a student I had the opportunity to teach and tutor a variety of students. One of the programs I worked with was the Literacy Corp, which allowed me to work with students throughout the city. Upon graduation I joined AmeriCorps and began teaching full time in Pennsylvania. I feel my background as a teacher and tutor, as well as the fact that I was so recently a student myself, makes me better able to relate to my students. I know that not all material is automatically going to make sense to a student and I am able to teach from that point of view. I approach tutoring as an opportunity to figure out how a student learns and look forward to finding new ways to relate the information to them.I work with students in a number of fields, including reading, writing, essay writing and editing, literature, grammar and mechanics, American and European history, AP and IP courses, macroeconomics, pre-algebra, constitutional law, and business. I also tutor all elementary and middle school courses. Additionally, I am available to help students improve their study and organizational skills and to prepare for standardized tests such as the LSAT and SAT.
