Education

I'm a Sophomore Philosophy Major at The Catholic University of America. I'm in the university Honors Program. My GPA is 3.86. I grew up in lower Manhattan, NYC. My grade school and high school education was varied. I homeschooled through grade school, receiving language instruction in Latin and French from tutors. From age 3 until 10th grade I attended The School for Strings, in Manhattan, where I received instruction in violin, viola and music theory. Through high school I received a more varied education, taking online courses in philosophy, literature, history, math and the sciences with university professors based around the country. I took courses in French literature and translation at NYC's Alliance Française. Through grades 10 to 12 I played viola and violin with the New York Youth Symphony orchestra and chamber programs.

Experience

I love to tutor, not only for the sake of the subjects I'm passionate about, but also because I'm very much an independent, creative learner and eager to share my learning strategies. I have a talent for clear expression and simple elucidation of complication concepts. I have experience tutoring in Latin. I have tutored high school students, and I've tutored a PHD candidate. [SAT Subject Test Scores] 720 in Latin, 780 in Reading Comprehension. [FRENCH] I have taken high-level French courses in French literature and translation at NYC's Alliance Française, as well as two 300-level courses in literary analysis and French culture here at The Catholic University of America. [VIOLIN] I've been playing violin for 18 years (since age 3) and am currently in the CUA Symphony Orchestra. For 4 years I played in the New York Youth Symphony orchestra. I've performed as an orchestral and chamber player at Carnegie Hall, Symphony Space and The Kennedy Center. [WRITING] I am an excellent writer, with a personal style that prioritizes clarity and a strong grammatical sense. I'm more than happy to share my essays and published articles upon request.
