Experience
I earned both my bachelor's degree and master's degree in the field of Biochemistry at the University of California, Los Angeles. Following college, I worked at the National Institutes of Health for two years before moving to become a high school teacher for five years. In that position, I taught Science, including Physics, Biology, and Chemistry. Learning has been a lifelong passion of mine, especially in the fields of Science and Math. I love trying to instill that passion for learning in the students I work with. In addition to the subjects I mentioned, I also have a good deal of experience assisting students as they prepared for standardized exams like the SAT. The most rewarding part of teaching for me is when a student who had been previously struggling with the material finally has that moment of clarity where everything suddenly clicks. My strategy for helping students understand concepts that may seem out of reach at first is to relate the material to real world examples that they can apply to their lives and therefore remember more easily. When I am not working as a tutor, I like to spend my time reading, cooking, and playing piano.
