Education

I grew up in State College Pennsylvania, attending State College Area High School for four years where I placed in the top ten percent of my class for my Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years. In addition, I was involved in Quiz Bowl, Science Bowl, Debate Club, Polar Trek organization, the varsity tennis team, a quaker youth group, Kiva club, and the envirothon team. I served as president of the debate team, envirothon team, and captain of the varsity tennis team, and co-clerk (facilitator) of the youth group my senior year, holding vice the vice president position of Kiva club that year as well. I also sang for the State College High School Master Singers, a nationally recognized audition only ensemble, competing in singing competitions worldwide. At the George Washington University, I am majoring in Statistics and Economics and have made the Dean’s list every semester, moving into the top 15 percent of the student body with a GPA of 3.763. I currently serve as the president of my residence hall, elected by over 250 residents, working towards building creative social, informative, or advocacy related programs throughout the academic year. I also worked as a tour guide my freshmen year, providing informative guided tours to prospective students and families as well as VIP tours. I also work part time at an events management firm as an assistant events coordinator, providing administrative support, customer service, and audiovisual aid for clients. This year I have entered the leadership of the Japanese American Student Alliance JASA, serving as the fundraising chair, and the social chair for the organization; the past two fundraisers have raised over five hundred dollars, and I have helped expand JASA membership from just 7 executive leaders to membership of over 20 affiliated individuals.

Hobbies

I worked for two summers as a camp counselor, caring for kids both in camp and on the trail, developing new games and creative activities to keep the kids occupied and engaged, helping to stretch physical and mental comfort zones safely so the kids can grow to be more confident individuals. In DC, I love to play chess, checkers, magic the gathering, and tetris, and for exercise I like to play tennis, compete in pickup basketball, or take short walks by the river near Georgetown. I rarely go out on the weekends, though on occasion I may eat Korean barbecue with some friends, and sing some older pop songs at a Karaoke, other times my mom and dad may come for a visit with some pre-ordered Wizards tickets and invite me to go cheer for Bradley Beal and John Wall. My ideal afternoon involves a warm fall day, and a small cup of coffee at 11:30, taking the 11:35 orange line from Foggy Bottom metro to the Smithsonian, pulling out my science fiction novel and reading until 2pm. After that I might get a bite to eat at the Sculpture Garden Cafe followed by a pleasant ride home where i'd spend the afternoon and evening with my lovely girlfriend, discussing life philosophy, the news, or future aspirations of starting a family business.
