Experience
A large majority of students operate below their potential in math. That certainly was true of me in high school, where I was a mediocre math student. But first semester in college I had a great math teacher who got me excited about it, and I went on to major in math and get an A in every math class. I then became a nuclear engineer before going to UVA Law. That would not have happened were it not for the freshman year math teacher. Over the years I've taught nuclear physics to engineers in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, math to private school high school students in DC who were struggling and then succeeded, and the taxation of financial products to lawyers and CPAs. If you want to see if I can help a student come closer to his/her math potential, please contact me.
